As fate would have it, White and Timlin were brought back into one another’s lives when they were both cast in the 2008 movie «Afterschool,» alongside Ezra Miller. Both were 17 at the time.
«The universe never really let us separate,» Timlin said of the serendipitous nature of their «Afterschool» audition during their «Showmance» interview.
«I was like, ‘F*ck this chick,'» White said, recounting how he felt when he realized he’d have to do a chemistry read with his first love. «I was so mad at the director. I was like, ‘You can’t, man. You can’t.'»
«I, like, aired our dirty laundry in the room,» Timlin said. «And then the director was like, ‘I love it!’ Of course,» White added. Timlin continued, «He was so mad at me, and I was like, ‘Well I just got us the part, didn’t I!'»
The pair ended up briefly moving in together when they were 18, around the time they starred in «Afterschool.»
